Course Description:
Composition and Literature
extends the skills learned and practiced in Language Arts by
examining the written forms of language as found in literature and the
composing process. Students are introduced to many composition
styles and thoroughly practice paragraph development while they study
literary examples. The discussion-based literature thread of the
course introduces students to the creative genre: fiction (both the
novel and short story), drama, and poetry. Students are led to
analyze works of literature for structure, employ critical thinking
skills to create and defend arguments, and examine themes in light of
Scripture. Units include:
